Thanks for the great ideas! I showed the clip from dogonews.com on leap day! The students loved it. Today I actually showed the summer recap from this week in rap, they also liked it and wanted to watch more. Of course they did! I am interested in buying it to see what they have to offer for the math videos. There is a promo code somewhere out there. Let me know if anyone finds it!

I really want to show my student some of these rap videos as well. He really likes music so I am thinking he is going to really love these! The whole website is really neat and I am very interested in using them now and in the future!

I just downloaded Triptico to my computer, and I am in awe! Even without access to a SmartBoard, all of the programs can easily be adapted for a small group activity. My "Kinders" are VERY tech savvy, and they would have a ball if I used Word Magnets to create a literacy based center, where they had to sort words with similar beginning or ending sounds. Time seems to be the biggest constraint in the life of a teacher, so here's an opportunity for me to take a ready-made template and adjust it to reflect our curriculum along with the needs of my learners.
ReplyDeleteMake sure to take a peak at the various timers and partner/small group matchers. You can easily download a class list and the software randomly pairs students (with tweaks made as necessary by the teacher...), creates groupings, or selects a student's name for participation in a class activity. Effective classroom management is an essential condition for learning to take place. And, now we have a free tool to make our lives as educators adjust a little bit easier, and, hopefully, to inspire increased engagement among our students.
After class Tuesday, I was really intrigued about Triptico. From what we talked about, it seems like such an amazing tool to use with students. I really hope we get a chance to use it during our class so we can see all the great things it has to offer!
DeleteAndrea,
DeleteI am so happy that you had great success with this program! I am downloading it as we speak. I am really excited! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteHi all – I just want to share this site with you. I have been a member for awhile, it is free. There is a lot of information on it about integrating technology into the classroom. They also have what is called, Classroom 2.0 Live. They are webinars where you hear and interact throught the use of a blackboard interface, from a variety of professionals – teachers, authors – about technology in the classroom. And they only last about an hour. They encourage “newbie” to join. And will sent you emails to inform you of the up coming events. Today at 12pm I watched (or tried to, computer issues that disconnected me, ugh) – Andrea Keller, Technology in a Multi-Ability Classroom. She discussed how to engage all students in learning through technology based on their technology level. Umm kind of like we learn how to engage students based on their learning levels. Hope you find this useful. Enjoy.
Thanks for the resource, Kate! I've added it to the Technology for Learners Livebinders.
DeleteI felt so inspired after Tuesday's class. I couldn't wait to share these resources with my other colleagues at my school. I especially loved "The Week in Rap," because I feel it lends itself really well to current events. I really enjoyed that they also have lesson plans that align with it. I really appreciate all the resources and can't wait to try them! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed be shown "The week in rap." It such a creative way to share current events and I think's great that there's also activities across academic contents.
