Week 12.1

UPDATE...The Bully Project

I like to believe our efforts helped to lower the age restriction for this movie. It has recently been lowered to PG-13 so that more students can view it.   We should be encouraging parents to get their kids to this movie and open up discussions about how our behaviors can have serious effects on others.

It opens in select theaters tomorrow!  I may have to take a road trip!

Here is the the link to the website...just in case you need it!

  1. Here is the perfect example of how rallying together in support of a common cause can inspire change. As we have learned, social media is a powerful platform upon which to generate a coalition. Evidently, the public realizes that this film has the potential to educate about bullying in the most raw and honest way possible: through the voices of those who experience it everyday. After all, it's when we target the most tangible effects of bullying do we make a very meaingful case against it. I, for one, will be very interested to see how and if schools plan to utilize "The Bully Project." The potential impact of this film will not result simply by viewing it, but through the conversations that it ellicits. Class field trip, anyone?

  2. I feel so great about being a part of this petition. It is for such a good cause and I'm so glad that teenagers will be able to go see this movie now that they lowered the rating. Hopefully many teens will take advantage of this and go see this movie. I receive emails from the girl who started the whole petition through change.org and she has been nationally recognized (she was even approached by Ellen Degeneres and asked to appear on her show!) I agree with Andrea that when people stick together for a common cause many great things can happen. I truly hope many people will go see this movie and that all the bullying going on in this world will begin to dissipate and eventually disappear altogether.

  3. This is awesome news! I'm willing to gather friends and their siblings and go to go see it. This is a great example of how persistence and gathering those fighting for the same cause can make a change. This movie will open eyes to students in middle and high school grades. I'm really happy and excited they changed the rating!

  4. Thank you for letting us know that this has been changed. So many teachers that I spoke with rallied for this change and I feel that it should be shown to all students. Hopefully they will see the importance of this film and open it in many more locations.
